We saw a lot of London today. The Queen opened parliament this morning. It’s a long standing tradition here. It was fun to be there for that day. Then we headed off to the Bank of England Museum. This place was neat because they were talking about inflation and keeping the economy and the compared to a hot air balloon rising and falling. So they send you through this simulator where you have to keep the balloon level. I did such a good job they told me to pick up an application on my way at. It was just a joke. Then we met up with the whole group at the Cabinet War Rooms. I couldn’t believe this place as we were walking through. This is where Winston Churchill directed the wars affairs and met with different committees to do so. After the war ended everyone left everything there and sealed the rooms up so they look exactly how they would have during that time. There is also a Winston Churchill museum there. We have already seen three museums about his life and this one was the best. It was really interactive and you really got a feel for his character and his role in the war. We also watched a lot of film footage from his funeral that I have not seen before. After the War Rooms we headed to Baker Street and saw where Sherlock Holmes supposedly lived. The house is really cool. They have wax people set up everywhere acting at scenes from many of the novels. We came home and ate dinner. And then went to see Handel’s Messiah at the Barbican Center. It was a really neat rendition of the Messiah because it was a small choir 18 people that used instruments true to the Handel’s time period. I was really glad we went. It was fun to stand up for the chorus part that the king stood for so many years ago in England.
