Banqueting Hall and Herrods

I’m still running in Kenningston Gardens. The route I have right now takes me pass the Peter Pan Statue. The leaves are beginning to change colors.

After class we went to the Banqueting Hall which used to be part of the White Palace. But the White Palace burned down. Basically everything that has survived in London is amazing because it didn’t burn down and it wasn’t bombed. We went here because it is another example of Palladian Architecture. There is one main room with this amazing frescos on the ceiling. They were done by Ruben. They were actually shipped to England all rolled up and then hung on the ceiling. The paintings show the divine right of kings. Charles I had his father painted into them. I think the coolest thing that happened there was the execution of Charles I (and then Charles II choose to get inaugurated there and then William of Orange accepts the throne there too). The room was used for lots of different things; masquerades, parties, and foreign ambassadors. It is still used today for concerts and other royal things.

On the way back at the tube stop there was a guy playing the harp. I took a picture of it for you Brooke. I miss hearing you play. I can’t wait to hear the pedal harp when I get home.

I came home and did some homework.

In the evening we went to the famous Harrods department store. It was extremely elegant. I got some fudge. It was really delicious. Except for the bag they gave me for it had a hole in both ends. And I didn’t know that, so some of it fell out. It was a very sad moment. Funny but also very sad. SO we went to go get gelato. It was delicious. I haven’t had any yet. I woke up with a sore throat so I must have really enjoyed it. Von I got a lime for my throat. I made me think of you. I just bought a lime though and the guy was laughing at me and then he told me to enjoy my lemon. I was really confused.

I love the Banquet House it is a beautiful place! The Horse Guards are also great they were a favorite of Finn's.
Harrods is crazy! My Dad requires that the students see the food halls because the design is incredible!
When you are back at BYU you have to take my Dads History of design class you would love it, I think, judging from you comments you make about all the architecture you see.
Did you not have a day trip this week?
PS I feel like such a stalker on your blog seeing as we did not know each other super well. I hope you don't mind.

Were you able to get a picture of the Peter Pan statue? I think that would have been pretty fun.
