Today ended up being absolutely amazing even though the first part was quite boring. I had class from 9:00-1:00. Then we hurried off to the Globe Theatre. The easiest way to get there is to get out at the St. Paul’s Cathedral tube stop and walk across the millennial bridge. I love the view. And I get to see it like everyday.
I saw A Mid Summer’s Night Dream. Several things struck me about the performance. First off we were groundlings so the actors often times were out in the audience right next to us. This really engaged me in the play. I couldn't fall asleep. so you don’t fall asleep. You are also standing up for like three hours. The theatre is open so when airplanes fly overhead it’s really hard to hear. And if its raining you get rained on. It only sprinkled a little bit. I don’t think Shakespeare had problems with airplanes though. I was amazed at how well the sound really does carry without microphones. The costumes were so authentic. They were extremely colorful and vibrant. I really enjoyed play--it was hilarious. It was a little questionable with some of the directors interpretations. But I loved it I can’t wait to go back. I’m seeing Mary Wives of Windsor next Friday; hopefully it will be good weather.

that sounds like so much fun, although i don;t think that I would like standing for 3 hours.... and i'm hoping that that is your backpack in the picture, right? cause for a minute it looked like a sling and I though that you broke your arm :(
What fun! I loved being groundlings, it is very interactive.
no broken arm just by backpack :)
