Phantom and British Library Fountain of Knowledge

Today didn’t start off that great. I missed going running because I couldn’t find my alarm clock so I had no idea what time it was. I did get my laundry done which was good. Then I was planning on getting tickets to see Phantom of the Opera and running over to the British Museum. This didn’t happen. I went to go get tickets for the musical and I forgot my wallet at the center. So I ran back to the tube stop of course got on going to wrong way because I was in a hurry. Then ran all the way back to turn around and run back to the center for my only class of the day. And I hurried (of course) back to catch the matinee showing of Phantom. It was very enjoyable. I love seeing a musical when you know the music. It makes watching so much easier and relaxing. I loved our Christine but our Phantom was a little weak. With all of this said it was still excellent--the costumes, pit, and setting.

After the musical we headed home for dinner. After dinner we went to the British Library. This is probably my favorite room in all of London. My professor told me that it’s probably worth more in terms of knowledge than all of the crown jewels and he is SO right.

I saw all of the following things inside this one room: Magna Carat, Leonardo da Vinci’s papers, Charles Darwin’s journal, Thomas Harvey (he discovered how blood circulates in the body), 1st Edition of Shakespeare, Elizabeth I’s hand writing, original manuscripts from Beethoven and Mozart, Beowulf, Jane Austen, William Woodsworth, Bronte handwriting and original documents. Oh and leaves of the Gutenberg bible. I’m sure I missed something in this list. But I was FREAKING OUT along with the two other girls with me. We came home and were still in shock with everything we saw in that room.

Glad that you are so excited Ms. Historian. I knew about the Magna Carta but not the rest. I almost died when I was reading it. Aren't you glad you went for reasons other than shopping? (But I hear the shopping is good too.)
