This is my first time posting so I hope that everything works. Yesterday I flew into London. I took the Heathrow Express to Paddington Station and then I took a taxi from Paddington to the BYU London Center. It was amazing to see the old buildings as we drove through London. It was also pretty crazy to be driving on the wrong side of the road. I was very impressed with how the taxi driver would get us through the very narrow streets when I often thought we were going to hit by another car.
After arriving I got my room assignment. The very top floor #5....there were a lot more than five flights of stairs to carry my luggage up! It was quite a predicament getting it all up. But the bonus is I have the best view in the house. The picture on the left is the view out the front window.
I found a pay phone on Bayswater Road close to the Kensington Gardens entrance to call my Mom. Later that evening we had dinner and an orientation that explained the house rules and how to use public transportation in London (Oyster cards). It was a really long meeting. We were all jet lagged and falling asleep.
This morning we were awoken by a very loud fire alarm. It was raining. In all of our hurry out the door we didn't bring umbrellas with us. It was pretty funny--forty girls in their pj's just standing around outside waiting for the fire alarm to stop. Today I'll be going to church in the Hyde Park Chapel. I've spent the day doing reading for class on Monday. And later tonight we will be divided up into our wards for the rest of the semester.

I am glad that you made it there safe! I hope you have a great trip! Can't wait to see more pictures and hear about everything!
It is a big hike to the top, but, I think it is the best room! Just be sure you pack everything you will need for the day before you go down!
Enjoy the flower walk in Hyde park and the Sunken Gardens by Kensington palace for me, they remove most of those flowers by October.
Your view is beautiful!!! I am way jealous!!!! So I called you back literally 1 minute after you called and your phone was already shut off and I was really sad that I missed your call!!!!!! But I love you lots and I know you're going to have a fabulous time!!! I'm excited to see more pictures!
What wonderful accommodations. A room with a grand view!!! Thanks for sharing your new world and exciting adventures in London.
