Antiques on Portobello Road (and things)

Saturday I caught up on some sleep and then ventured back out into London.

We hit Portobello Road first. It was so cool. There is so much to see. This is the worlds largest antique market that happens every Saturday. I’m really interested in pocket watches now but they are way too much money. Mom, I found some of the plates we eat off every day there. I got one it was really cheap. Brooke I got you some coins. One of them has Napoleon on it another one has Winston Churchill on it and there are a ton more. I’ll tell you more about them when I come home. The lady there knew a ton of stuff about the coins. I saw tons of 1st editions of Jane Austin, Charles Dickens, and Jane Eyre. It was really neat to at least get to hold and look at some of these books.

I then headed over to the South Side of the Thames to finish up a walk. I already did the beginning part but I got to see some of the stuff again like the Southwark Cathedral. The walk took us by most of the bridges. I got to walk across the Millennium Bridge I was really excited about that. I don’t know why but I really love the modernity of the bridge with St. Paul’s Cathedral in the background. We also walked by the globe theatre which was really cool. On Monday we are taking a tour of the Cathedral and then on Wednesday we are seeing Mid Summer’s Night Dream and I got some of the last tickets to Merry Wife’s of Windsor playing in October.

At night we tried to get ticket to Phantom but we failed and ending up seeing 39 steps again. It was even funnier the second time. There is a movie version of it. Most people say the play is better. But if you don’t have anything to do see the movie.
