To Cathy my coworker it’s the 21st today--something crazy is bound to happen and it did.
Some of you were inquiring about my ward. I’m in Mitcham Ward if I didn’t already clarify that. We had no problems getting there today. It was amazing. We got there 20 minutes early. It was really nice to just sit down and enjoy the peace and quiet. There was a missionary trying to play the piano. He wasn’t doing a very good job it made me laugh a little. I shouldn’t have done that because guess what happened next. The bishop walked in and asked me to play the piano for the whole sacrament meeting. Four hymns on the spot. It was an extremely frightening experience but no one else there knows how to play. Everyone said I did fine but I’m not so sure. So I’m the ward pianist.
We were also asked to bear our testimonies. Most of the girls were really freaking out about this but I still had to get through two more hymns. Bearing my testimony was a breeze compared to the task still to come. I’m sure this happened because it was the 21st of the month. Its interesting to note how the Lord prepares you for things. There was a reason why I needed to be the relief society pianist first. The people I think are just grateful to have some one that can make it through the hymns. Otherwise they sing solo.
I love going to Young Women. The girls are a lot of fun. We talk about all of the differences and they are amazed that I had a car and drove to work by myself everyday and how warm it is in Arizona. One of the girls really didn’t believe me. I get to teach the lesson next week.
Tonight we have a fireside and our last night to prepare dinner

I LOVE the picture labeled "lyme"
Amen to the piano stuff. I wonder if others understand the terror of being a inexperienced pianist.
I totally understand the "inexperienced pianist" feeling! I'm an organist in my ward and I only took like 2 lessons EVER.
Of course, I'm not surprised about your fearless testimony-bearing... you were always pretty good at that stuff :)
I totally understand the piano thing. I have tried to explain to people that there is a GREAT difference between playing the piano and accompanying. If you don't play, they don't get it! Love the posts.
It seems so odd that this was one of my experiences in England too. No one supposedly knew how to play the piano, so MOI of little experience accompanying a church group ended up playing for any church meeting I attended. What is with that? No piano lessons for children in England? I am sure the congregation was very thankful for your willingness to play the piano for them Danielle.
