I went to Blenheim Palace and Oxford today.
Blenheim Palace was a lot like Stourhead except during a different time period. Winston Churchill was born in the palace. The Duke of Marlborough lives there. The Churchill family came into this position because of the success of John Churchill in the battle of Blenheim. The inside had a really neat exhibit about Winston Churchill. The rest of the house was beautiful. There were these amazing tapestries in three of the rooms of the house. I can’t figure out how they make people and setting out of weaving fabric. The grounds were also gorgeous. It was really cold though. I think fall/winter is really coming because the leaves started changing colors and the flowers are starting. It was really windy.
Then we headed off to Oxford. We went through the Magdalen College. It was really neat. Because people were like walking around and they actually live there and study there. We then went to the library. Where people at Oxford actually study because we couldn’t go in there. C.S. Lewis went to this college and we saw where he would have lived while he was going there. We also went to the pub called Eagle and Child--they call it the Babe and the Bird. C.S. Lewis spent a lot time at this place writing along with J.K. Rowling.
Then we went punting. This is where you get on one of those really cool boats and guy pushes you around. Humphrey was our guide. It was his second time doing this so it was interesting to get around because it was so windy. It was really neat to see the town by water.
Tonight we went to evening song at the Christ's Church. I have never been to a Catholic service.. It was a really neat experience. It was the boys choir that sang. They were amazing. They make it seem so effortless they were flawless. The music was so beautiful. Part of Harry Potter was also filmed in this building.

you mean that you got to be in the same building hte rupert grint has stood in?!?!?!??!?! I am so so jealous of you right now!!
I didn't remember the University Oxford being that cool, but we didn't see as much and I think the students were on break when we went. Plus the retarded HS kids didn't care either. Glad you got to see all that and more
I loved visiting Oxford. It makes one feel so eager to be "academic".
What a wonderful environment.I am so envious. Danielle, Maybe you will become an international student at Oxford and do graduate level work in one of the colleges that make up the University of Oxford. I can imagine myself in one of the libraries. It is so thrilling to see and smell the paper books and wishing all of the knowledge written within all the books therein could just be plugged into my brain:)
As a cross post, I loved seeing little baby David attending a story time in a library in Boston.
No matter how technical the world becomes in David's long life, I hope the joy of sitting down and reading a paper book never ceases to exist.
Thanks again for sharing your adventures in Oxford no less;)
Many hugs to you Danielle my niece who is living and loving life in England,
Fondly,
Aunt Sally
OKAY. I am finally all caught up! It sounds like you're having a blast in London little missy! You do TONS of fun stuff every day, and all the arts and entertainment... wow! Westminister Abbey sounds AMAZING, and so does the library in your previous post. AND! That's crazy how many plays are available for you to see. Good job going running every morning. =) Make sure you're safe!!
I love Oxford. I have not been back since the filming of Harry Potter. Is that Pub the one the J.R.R. Tolkien went to a lot?
PS I Love Blenheim, OK I love everything England! The outside of Blenheim is used in the Jane Seymour version of The Scarlet Pimpernel it is supposed to be Paris.
