Stop and Smell the Roses

I walked through Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park today. It was really enjoyable.

Hyde Park. To get to Wellington Arch also know as Constitution Arch you have to cross a circus (round about) today the round about was closed off. You could only look in at the statues. We waited a little while to see if the police would let us in. They finally took the tape down. The police officer said there was a suspicious car in the neighborhood. It was crazy to see the city so empty and filled up literally in seconds with activity.

When I was at the Albert Memorial there were five roller bladers there. One of them was a teacher. He was demonstrating how do turns on roller blades but they were doing it like they were figure skaters. I've never noticed how many people actually rollerblade before. It was really neat. I also saw another women who looked like she was skiing but the skis were on wheels.

I also walked by Kensington Palace and a statue of Queen Victoria. I also observed a lot of children on this walk. One of the kids was arguing with his dad. He was probably about eight. His dad wanted to run and he did not. So his dad started running and the kid ran and stood on a tree stump and refused to keep running. Another little girl was trying to chase squirrels. She became very puzzled and would come running to her mother after every failed attempt to catch a squirrel.

I sat and looked at the Italian Gardens for a while. These are a set of water falls. It was windy and I noticed that when the wind blows there is a lot water outside the pond. The whole fountain of water lands in the area outside of the pond. So if you were standing next to the fountain you would get soaked.

At the round pound a family brought some bread. They were swarmed with birds.

On my way to the walk there was a lady with two dogs. They still needed to cross the street to get in the park. Her dog went potty and while she was cleaning it up one the other her dog got away. Ironically, the dog ran away but within the cross walk and dashed across the road before the owner could catch it. But the owner was so worried about her dog she just crossed the street too. I couldn’t believe it. The dog and the owner did not get hit but it was really crazy to watch.

The dogs in the park don’t have to stay on leashes. It is really cool because they really get to run around in there.

This is the same route that I take when I go running. Hopefully this gives you a better picture of the things I see as I run.

Tonight we are watching conference. With the time difference we watch from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and then 9:00-11:00 p.m.

PS I have lists and list of movies filmed in and around England and the sights you are seeing. I will have to tell you about them when you return. Also, are you all going to Kew Gardens?
