We headed to the Royal Mile for the rest of the next day. The birthplace of Harry Potter is right off of the Royal Mile we went there and happened on the National Library. There was a really cool exhibit about publisher who wrote with famous people like Austen, Byron, Darwin etc…So for each person they had a display and a touch screen to learn new information. At the end you can make you own novel or write a letter to the editor. I wrote the letter. They publish the letters on the website. So maybe mine will get put up there.

Then we went the Scottish Museum. The place was huge. I didn’t even have enough time to really look at everything. But I learned a lot more about their history it makes a lot more sense.

Then we went to St. Giles Church. This is where John Knox began the Protestant Reformation in Scotland. The organ was really cool. There was a light in the back so you got to see inside the organ.

We then headed back down the royal mile. I learned that Whiskey is spelled Whisky there and that church is really kirk there. The people are louder than the English. They are a little more open. We went to a book store and talked to this really nice Scottish man that knew a ton of stuff about his country. We told us not to miss the new parliament building but that it was also hard to miss. He was right. This building is right next to the palace. It is super modern. There are like wooden sticks on the outside of the building then an ancient palace and a the green rolling hills of Scotland on one corner. It was really neat

Then we went into the palace. It was not as cool as Buckingham. It is still a royal residence but Mary Queen of Scots lived her and actually witnessed her second husband Lord Darnley stab someone 56 times in her bedroom. It was really neat to be in the bedroom and think that something like that happened years ago in the very same spot.

Then I caught a bus and a plane and headed back to London. The airport is so much more relaxed. You don’t take your shoes off they don’t check you id that much. It was really weird but then we saw to police officers walking around with machine guns. It was rather strange experience. Our bus ride to and from the airport was actually longer than the plane ride. Not because Scotland is not far away but because London traffic is crazy. We finally made it home though.
