I went to Stratford. I saw Anne Hathaway’s home first. I couldn’t believe how small it was. When she lived there the upper rooms were not even built yet. The farm land was beautiful. They were actually in the process of tearing out all the summer flowers because they are starting to die. I got into a really interesting conversation with one of the guys. He offered to let me help them. I politely refrained but asked him how big the area was and exactly what he was doing. The ground is uneven so that the water drains out onto the street. He showed the different bulbs they were planting next spring and bragged about the 20 acres of property he maintains. He was really nice. Then off to Shakespeare’s birth place. The museum was not as good as the museum at the Globe theatre. Then we went through the house. They have these glass windows where famous authors have signed their names it was really cool to look at. I also learned about an early form of wall paper. Apparently they would nail fabric up to the wall and then paint it. If they didn’t like it they could start over or if they moved they could take the paper down with them. I also learned a lot about glove making. Shakespeare’s father was famous for this and why they were so wealthy. I then walked through the town. I saw the sight where his really has would have been. The church where he was buried in was closed. I was really sad about this but the gardens were breath taking. All the leaves are changing colors. So we decided to play in the leaves for the two hours before the play started because the town was closed down. It was a lot of fun.

We saw Love’s Labor Lost by the Royal Shakespeare Company. It was amazing and we got to sit in seats. The actors come on stage about ten minutes before the play and just start acting and getting into their character. Love’s Labor Lost is probably my favorite Shakespeare play I have seen in England but Romeo and Juliet is still my favorite. We got home around midnight.

Glad you got to go to Stratford. It is so close to where I grew up and my parents live (about 30 minutes) so we often went for the afternoon because the town is so pretty - especially in the summer when lots of things are going on around the river.

Cindy-

This AH is Shakespeare's wife. I think they show her house cause it is bigger than Shakespeare's.

Danielle-

I remember doing that too!! We'll have to compare pictures. That was one of my most favorites but I of course didn't get to see as many as you.

Stratford is such a neat town! I love visiting the Shakespeare homes! There used to be the best fish and chips place there too!
