Friday morning we started heading back to the South. During this whole trip we watched the movie North and South. Its based on the book North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell and explores the effects of cotton mills on peoples lives. I highly recommend the movie. It was done by BBC. It is really long so you need a lot of time to watch it. The only guy on our trip even enjoyed the movie. We finally finished the movie on Friday. We stopped at Haworth Parsonage which is where the Bronte family lived. I enjoyed this house of the three writers the most because it had a little museum exploring the life of the Bronte family. The house is right next to the church in this little village. It was a bit of a hike from the coach park but well worth the effort. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the place because I really haven’t read anything by the Bronte sisters until recently. Brooke I kept thinking about you while I was there. You would have loved it. And Emily Smith I kept thinking about you too for some reason I thought you really like Jane Eyre but I could be making that up.
Off we went to Chatsworth. I was really excited because Pride and Prejudice was filmed inside and the new movie the Duchess was also filmed here. I haven’t seen the Duchess yet but I can’t wait to now. The palace is has more imported decoration from Europe than any of the other palaces I have seen. Buckingham might compete but this palace is still done in a very English way. The rooms were amazing. The pottery was huge. There were paintings everywhere.
The people that own the home became promoted from earls to dukes by William of Orange. The earl at the time arranged the Glorious Revolution by inviting William of Orange the King in Holland to take the throne in England. The earl was rewarded for the invitation. The statue of Darcy from Pride and Prejudice is in the very same room. We were pushed for time at this palace because we were late from being stuck in traffic. I did not have time to wonder in the gardens; I was really disappointed. They allow you to take pictures inside the palace which made the trip so much fun. I will upload some of the pictures soon.

I am so glad you watched North and South I own that one I LOVE it! Chatsworth is so beautiful to bad you did not get much time on the grounds they are AMAZING! They were designed by a famous designer named Capability Brown
We got stuck with no food and a closed town when we showed up a bit late to the Bronte parsonage. We walked through the whole town looking for something to eat, no luck, but we did enjoy the beautiful town!
Even when the town is open its hard to find something to eat :)
Danielle, Jane Eyre is a great book, I am flattered that you thought of me. Wow, I would love a day to wander the halls and gardens of a beautiful and exquisite place and just be amazed. You are so lucky.
