Today was the Lord’s Mayor Parade. It is one of the biggest parades in London. It rained a ton but was way worth it. We had front row seats. We were standing around a bunch of elderly people. I was so surprised to still see them out there with the rain. I guess you just get use to that here. There was this really scary part. One of the horses got really scared and the rider had to jump off his horse. I thought he was going to get trampled but he didn’t.
After the parade we were really wet but decided to still do some stuff with out day. We went to the Kew Bridge Steam Engine Museum. It was really hard to find. But two tube stops latter and a nice walk it was found. Its really cool because you get to actually see some of the steam engines running. The three of us literally just stood in front of one of them for ten minutes just staring and listening. There is also a great museum about water and steam. It is really interactive for kids. There are tons of draws to open, buttons to press, and costumes to try on.
Then we went to Burough Market for dinner. I ate some Jamaican Lamb pita things. They were delicious. This is a famously huge food market. It was really fun to walk around and smell all the different foods.
After this we started walking down the Thames to find a place to stand and watch the fireworks. We weren’t sure really where they would go off at so we picked a random place on little dock. Well we chose a really good place because the fireworks went off right in front of us on a boat. It was really amazing. I have never been to a cooler firework show. The entire sky was full.
Today was one of my favorite days in London even with the rain. It was really fun.
