We got up early today and headed for the train station. We decided to take the bus so we wouldn’t have to haul our luggage through the underground. It was really nice to be able to see the city outside the windows. Then we boarded our train at St. Pancreas International and went through the Chunnel it was really weird to think that water was all around us. The Chunnel was running behind schedule because the train was moving slower due to some accidents they had last week on it. We got on our bus and headed for Chartes. Getting on the bus was really weird because they drive on right side of the road and crossing streets was scary too because we were all looking the wrong way because we have been in London so long. The delay on the Chunnel made us late for our guided of Chartres one of the first churches dedicated to Mary. The man who gave us the tour has been studying the church for 51 years. He compared all art to books or stories that takes years to read. He went through and told us some of the stories being depicted in the stain glass windows and the statues. It was one of my favorite tours we have taken. Afterwards we wondered around the area. FYI you have to pay to go to the bathroom in France. Then we headed back to the hotel. After that we jumped on the Metro which was a little scary but a lot like the tube in London and headed to the Eiffel Tower. It was really pretty. At night the tower is blue with gold stars on it and every hour for ten minutes white lights sparkle. When we started going up the elevator the lights started sparkling it was really exciting. The top was beautiful you could see lights for miles.

Dear Mona Lisa aka Danielle,
Do you recall helping Jeff pack for his trip to Paris? You both were 11 year olds. He loves Paris and when he got to the top of Paris he called home because he was so excited at what he was seeing. Also when he visited the Louvre he did NOT want to leave. Sorry about your disappointment with Versaille. I have been there twice (once with your Uncle Eric) and we so loved Paris. Again I am vicariously living through your grand adventures. Love, aunt Sally
